Charlotte Engagement session = Erica and Bryan

Before every engagement session I ask my couples a few questions about themselves so I can get to know their style and personalities. Erica and Bryan are so much alike and are such a great couple. I loved how Bryan proposed to Erica and I wanted to share what she told me:

Me: How did he propose?

Erica: “In the evening of Jan. 1st 2012 (hours before my birthday), Bryan proposed at the “Chateau Elan Winery & Resort”.  He had me believe that we were going out for a nice dinner to celebrate my birthday. I had to dress up and put makeup on …as requested by Bryan. Once we sat down for dinner, reservations had been made and everyone on staff was aware of what was going to happen…..except for our waiter. Bryan as not acting himself.. so I decided to ask him if he was about to propose? He said No. As I excused myself from the table to use the ladies room, Bryan was able to speak with the waiter to fill him in on what was taking place. Once I returned to the table, our meals were served and when desert was to arrive.. we were escorted upstairs to a private balcony overlooking the vineyard. The balcony was covered in rose petals, candles, and a table for two. I became VERY emotional because a blanket was nicely folded on my chair for me to use (because I didn’t have a jacket). Once we sat down I began crying. I had never had anyone go all out for my “birthday” and found the blanket to be super thoughtful!! Once I was able to compose myself, Bryan proceeded to feed me desert. He stated that he had a surprise for me…that we were staying the night at the resort. Immediately I began sobbing!  He then proceeded to express his feeling for me  (while I was blowing my nose in the blanket) and  then began to inform me of one more surprise. Bryan got down on one knee, pulled out a box from his coat pocket, and asked if I would marry him. Of course… “YES”  followed by lots of crying!  Bryan corrected me on what hand the ring was supposed to go on (not the right but the left) and I’ve been wearing it ever since”.

I so love a good romance. Especially a real life one! Congratulations again Erica and Bryan. I can’t wait for your Charleston photo shoot!

Historic downtown Charleston, SC Wedding and Reception Venues

Morgan and Mike were married in historic downtown Charleston, SC. Their wedding was so charming and romantic – just the way I like it! I am truly a sappy romantic and this is why I post so many romantic photos – they are by far always my favorite to photograph along with the emotions of the day, the details and all the love and commitment…oh wait, that is just about everything so I guess I am just sappy about weddings all together. Guess it’s a good thing I am a wedding photographer!

Here is a sneak peek…

Congrats Morgan and Mike!

The girls got ready at the Ansonborough Inn in the historic district of downtown Charleston.

The ceremony was held at Middleton-Pinckey House (circa 1796). This three-story, masonry residence set on a raised basement is gorgeous for weddings! The staircase inside is amazing for romantic shots. Love love love!

And their fun reception was help at the Rice Mill in Historic Charleston SC.

Underwater Wedding Bridal Boudoir Engagement Anniversary Photo Shoot + Dreams Tulum

I am so excited we are registering clients for our famously fabulous under water sessions!! This November we will be in Mexico exclusively for our underwater sessions. This is a once in a lifetime chance to have some of the most amazingly awesome photos of yourselves.

The session can be for your After Session; romantic portraits taken of the bride and groom in their wedding attire. It’s becoming increasingly popular with newlyweds because it can take place up to a year after the event. Taking photos after the wedding allows the couple to feel more relaxed and act more natural, providing for some gorgeous shots. This is not your average After Session this is a kick ass under water after session. Yep, I said KA.
Some people also call this an Anniversary Session. Once again this would be the most kick ass anniversary session you could ever do!
The sessions are also open for an awesome engagement session, a bridal session (can you say “Girls trip!!”) How fun would that be as a bachelorette weekend!

If you are worried about wearing your wedding gown for the underwater session we have some back up options for you. We also have had many clients that purchased a second gown from Ebay just for the shoot.

This does not have to be wedding gown related. If you just want to wear a gorgeous gown for the session that works just as well. We will do a wardrobe consult for anyone that is doing the session for fun and not wedding related.

The price is $1200 and includes the session with beach or resort romance photos and our famously fabulous underwater shots, a wardrobe consultation for the best look, 20 of your favorite digital images from your session. And a sweet little surprise after you receive your images. From your digital copies you can print wall portraits, canvas prints, photos prints as gifts for parents and family members. Just imagine how much your Facebook Timeline photos will smoke everyone else’s!

We have two available weekends. November 1st weekend or November 16th weekend. We will also include a few extra days to make it a long weekend so if you rather have your shoot on a Friday or a Monday that can work too. Please let us know your choice when registering. A 50% retainer is due to hold your date and may be paid via credit card or check.

We will have a limited number of bookings for this special occasion so get your spot before they are all taken! You may register by emailing critsey at critseyrowe.com

We will be staying at the Dreams Tulum but you are welcome to book a location of your choice. The before images on the beach or resort will be taken at Dreams Tulum.

This shoot can be for any of the below sessions:

  • Bridal
  • Boudoir/glamour
  • Engagement
  • Couples
  • Anniversary

{note to photographers: this is also open to you as a workshop on underwater and beach photos. Please email for more details}

St. Mary’s Chapel Wedding = Cat and Austin

Cat and Austin’s wedding exudes love and romance. I wanted the day to last forever so I could keep photographing them. Such a beautiful couple and a beautiful event.

Here is a sneak peek…

St. Mary’s Chapel is they cutest little chapel in Charlotte. It has seen many many weddings over the years and probably hosts the most weddings out of any chapel in the state.

Cat and Austin opted to do a first look so they could do all their photos before the ceremony. They also felt it would take away some of the stress of walking down the aisle. First looks can be so romantic and intimate – theirs by far was super romantic!

Cat’s maids wore the prettiest yellow dresses and they sure knew how to work the camera!

Patrick Maloy officiated their wedding – he is my favorite but I am a little biased since he officiated Thomas and I’s wedding.

Are they not just GORGEOUS!

Cat and Austin have a bunny so they wanted to have a few bunny details since he could not be at the event.

So sweet the love and connection between them and their parents.

Austin and Cat love music and collect old records so a record player grooms cake was just perfect.
