Sarah and Evan’s engagement story is one of the sweetest stories I have heard. They are so in love and inseparable. I asked them to tell me the story of how they were engaged and I wanted to share it with you. It is so incredibly sweet!
Evan put a lot of thought into how to pop the question. Sarah and Evan lived in Tallahassee, Florida at the time. Evan told Sarah he was going to go play golf with a buddy for the day. So the plot begins…A friend asked Sarah if she wanted to go to lunch and shopping. Of course what girl doesn’t want to go shopping. After their shopping trip, her friend dropped Sarah back off at her house and had to go back to get her purse out of the car. She came back with a bag and said, “I’m not allowed to tell you anything, but here is a note, follow the directions.” Inside the bag was a beautiful blue dress Evan purchased at Sarah’s favorite boutique in Tallahassee. He actually went there and they looked up her name and found her dress size from previous purchases. Sneaky but smart!
The note said to get ready and be at their favorite restaurant at 6PM, which is a small hole in the wall restaurant that is also a wine bar. Sarah arrived and told the maitre d’ her name and he gave her a bottle of Champagne with another note. This note told her to go to her favorite Lake in Tallahassee and someone would be there waiting for her. Off she went to Lake Ella, one of her best friends was there waiting with a bag. Inside the bag, was a beautiful necklace that she had mentioned to Evan a long time before. Her friend also had another note, the note told Sarah to call a phone number and someone would tell her where to go next. She called and was told to go to the Capitol building. When she arrived one of Evan’s friends was waiting for her in the parking lot and walked her into the building, onto an elevator and took her out and up the back emergency exit ladder to the very top of the building. Finally reaching the top, Evan was there waiting with flowers. Rose petals were strewn about and Evan bent down on one knee and asked Sarah to marry him. No one had ever been proposed to on top of the Capitol building. This was truly a magical moment. After Sarah said yes, he took her to dinner and surprised her again by having all their family there waiting to celebrate with them.
Is this not so romantic?! Here are some photos from Sarah and Evan’s engagement session. We couldn’t go to Florida to the top of the Capitol building but we did find a great rooftop for a few photos in uptown Charlotte. {A special thanks to Sarah’s mother and brother for helping with the photo shoot.}
Sarah’s great Grandfather’s VW Bug was restored by her Dad so it was a very special part of their engagement session. ~The Love Bug
