“We tried to tie in little details that were special to us. We had our cake decorator make a black cat out of gum paste that was climbing up the back of our wedding cake – our wedding would not have been complete without incorporating our cat somehow! We incorporated a fleur de lis throughout our wedding invitations, programs, etc and also on our cake and a framed fleur de lis made of flowers above the sweetheart table – to tie in the fact that Kyle and his family are from the New Orleans area.
The best part of the day was finally kissing Kyle and becoming husband & wife, followed by sitting together at our sweetheart table during the reception, overlooking how much fun all of our family and closest friends were having together, and knowing we were married!
I’m very crafty and wanted to have a few handmade details at our wedding. I made all the gold glitter table numbers, including the Mr & Mrs with a fleur de lis for the sweetheart table; put together framed & labeled photos of our parents and grandparents from their wedding days, which we displayed at the reception; I made small framed photos of my grandparents that were pinned onto the stem of my bridal bouquet; and the morning of the wedding I gathered magnolia leaves from my parents’ yard and handwrote names on them in gold to be used as place cards for the head table. The look I was going for was elegant & romantic – I think the table linens, place settings, flowers, draping/lighting, and lots of candlelight helped us achieve that! My mother was a huge help with the entire planning process!”
