Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?

A: I had always envisioned the perfect wedding but I didn’t have a clue on how to put things together until I met Tina. I wanted a fall wedding as that is my favorite time of year and I wanted something classic but modern. Creams, magenta, purples, blush and soft gold accents were my chosen palette.  We are a very diverse family and we wanted to incorporate that into various aspects of our wedding. From the officiant, the menu and even the four-string quartet we wanted our wedding to reflect us.

Q: Let’s talk about wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?

A: The mint museum had everything that we needed.  So very little was needed to decorate ceremony space. We used candles to line the aisle and our wedding alter was surrounded by two beautiful orchid arrangements.  We also had a dedicated space to honor our loved ones that passed away., The reception space was turned into an intimate area with draped linens from the ceiling and a chandelier centerpiece.

Q: What were the florals like at your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

A: Our flowers were a beautiful mix of roses, orchids, burgundy ranunculus, and fragrant tuberoses.

Q: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment, etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

A: We had personalized donuts as a midnight snack as guests left our wedding. We used a globe for our guests to sign instead of a guest book.  We also had a horse-driven carriage to take us around the streets of downtown Charlotte as we left our wedding venue.

Q: Let’s talk about fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

A: I wanted something that would make my husband say wow! I chose a strapless mermaid style that had an asymmetrical gathering at the hip and a detailed belt that I had embroidered into my gown.  I had a birdcage veil with embroidered jewel accents.

Q: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

A: My husband and I met online. It was love at first sight. We spent the weekend in Asheville, NC. We went to the Biltmore Inn and winery. On our way back home, we stopped by Laurel Falls and went hiking.  Once we reached the top of the mountain my husband proposed.

Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

A: Give yourself plenty of time to plan.  Be kind to yourself and each other during the process and remember that this is only one day…You have the rest of your lives together to make memories.

Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

A: Our final dance for the night. We sent our guests outside to prepare for our exit. After everyone left, my husband and I shared a private intimate dance together. We danced to,”  I get to love you by Rulle ….alone.  It was only the DJ, our wedding planner, and our wonderful photographer.
