NC Mountains Anniversary Session – Ashley and Joe

This gorgeous couple was married a couple years ago and almost exactly on their engagement session anniversary date we did an anniversary session in the NC mountains. We drove up the night before and spent the night in the charming town of Blowing Rock so we could have an early start the following morning for our sunrise photo shoot.

The weather was not cooperating as it was so foggy we had to drive 20 miles an hour on the parkway to the location. When we arrived it was still dark and as we prepared for the hike up I silently prayed the fog would lift for our photo shoot. Don’t get me wrong, the fog is super cool but when you can’t see more then ten feet, it makes it not so cool for photos.

It had rained the day before so the trails were super muddy. Ashley and Joe were so great and trudged through the messy conditions with good humor! We made it to the first lookout and started the shoot while it was still what is called blue hour – right before the sun peeks the horizon. The sun tried really hard to peek through but just barely came out a teeny tiny bit through all the fog and clouds.

As we were shooting in one direction I turned to look behind me and saw that the fog had cleared enough for us to get some mountain view photos. The fog made for some pretty spectacular images and I am thrilled with how the photos turned out. Here is a sneak peek…
